Understanding Conversion Pixels

A conversion pixel is a tool that triggers based on a specific condition you set, allowing you to measure when important actions are completed on your site.

Steps to Create a Conversion Pixel

  • Name Your Pixel
    • Start by giving your conversion pixel a descriptive name that reflects the action it's tracking.
  • Select a Rule for Activation:
    • Option 1 - URL Visit: Choose "view a URL that contains" to activate the pixel when a specific URL is visited. Insert the URL parameter that triggers this action. you should insert the full URL (e.g., https://adpersonam.io/pricing ) that, when accessed by users, signifies a conversion event.
    • Option 2 - Specific Event: Select "event is equal to" for the pixel to trigger upon a predefined action, like a purchase or sign-up. You'll need to define the specific event that activates the pixel.
  • Define the Trigger:
    • For URL-based Activation: Input the exact URL that should trigger the conversion pixel.
    • For Event-based Activation: Choose the standard event from the provided list that matches the user action you want to track.
  • Categorization (URL-based Activation Only):
    • Define the type of conversion you're tracking, such as Lead, Purchase, or Add to Cart. This helps in categorizing the conversion activity effectively.
  • Finalize Your Pixel: Click the “Create Pixel” button to complete the setup. Your conversion pixel is now ready to track specified user actions.

Implementing Your Pixel

  • For URL-based conversions, simply setting the Universal Pixel on your site is sufficient. There's no need for additional code—once the Universal Pixel is implemented, it will automatically track visits to specified URLs as conversions.
  • For event-based conversions, an additional script code tailored to the chosen standard event will be generated. This script should be placed on relevant pages or associated with the corresponding action. Retrieve this script by clicking on the `< >` icon next to your pixel in the Conversion Pixel section and follow the instructions for placement.
  • Note: If an audience has been generated using the same rule and event, the code will be identical, eliminating the need for additional implementation. However, creating an audience with the same criteria does not automatically generate a conversion pixel.

By following these steps, you can effectively set up conversion tracking for your campaigns, enabling detailed insights into user actions and campaign performance. This streamlined approach ensures you capture valuable data to inform your marketing strategies and optimize conversions.
